Towards the end of July, German economics minister Philipp Rösler – and vice chancellor - was being accused of being reckless and unprofessional after saying he doubted Greeces reform efforts would succeed.
It was at that time that he admitted that a Greek exit from the euro had "lost its horrors", evoking a wry comment from Spiegel that some senior members in Germanys ruling coalition agreed with him. Read here... http://www.eureferendum....ogview.aspx?blogno=83044

Quote:with the economy shrinking 6.2 percent in the last quarter That would be some red flag, but Reuters says it was Quote:6.2 percent on an annual basis in the second quarter which is bad enough. Enjoying following you through the jostling of the German politicians. |

"People, we are told, have become accustomed to the crisis. " That's how I see it, it's been bad for a very long time so it could go on for much longer. And I don't think the general public are looking for a 'solution' to it, in the manner sought by our current leaders, simply accommodation, as the French say.
This plays into the hands of people like us who seek a new political mechanism. which also provides escape from the mess, at all levels. Our time has come! I'm serious, another two years of this and getting our message across will be made easier as the general public will then be weary and looking for any way out on offer.

Most Germans are indifferent towards warnings of a crisis. Crisis, what crisis! Famous words from the late 70s. Those Germans are in for a very rude awakening.

Quote:What has brought on this sudden outbreak of responsibility to this controversial politician is not clear, and nor is it clear that he is driven by electoral imperatives, even if next year's election is looming large and the FDP is not doing well.
I'd guess that he doesn't want to be the one accused of shouting too loudly and causing the avalanche to start. Of course, everybody knows that there's an awful lot of snow up there with nothing supporting it but it hasn't fallen yet and they don't want it to. As with this Quote:This had prompted from foreign minister Guido Westerwelle a warning: "The tone of the debate is very dangerous … We need to be careful not to talk Europe to death".
As with an over inflated stock market, sentiment can switch very fast when the general realisation arrives that shares are not worth what people have been paying for them on any basis other than the assumption of a bigger fool and bigger fools are suddenly in short supply.

I didn't know Germany had a Vietnamese Vice-Chancellor. I guess the Germans win the Multicultural Sweepstakes.

Rösler, German? Really? Oh well.
Actually, he reminds me a little of Adolf Galland, who was an odd looking German too.
Classic Hun though.

Classic Hun though. You beat me to it, John. It's true, then, that we're not the only ones undergoing 'Reconstruction.' Talk about breaking things for the sake of breaking them.
