A little jaunt round the neighbourhood, after a wild night. No sign of that rain, and while we saw some thawing, it's getting crunchy as darkness falls. As a pedestrian, you are definitely a second-class citizen. Roads are clear, but the pavements are lethal. View full article here

That pavement looks pretty well cleared in picture No6. Or is that still part of the road?

Is it true, or is it just folklore? That, in the UK - if you clear your the sidewalk, or pathway in front of your own home - that some local councils frown on such practices. In contrast, I've heard that in the US - clearing the area surrounding one's home on the pavement (bad luck if you live on a corner and this happens!) is a seen as a social responsibility - you're pilloried if you "don't do your bit" as it were. I know which is the better system. Shakassoc said: Quote:Huh. Don't show me pictures of Bradford City! Does the list now include Millwall? And.....Is it Rooley lane? In Germany it is a legal requrement to to keep the pavement around your property clear of snow. But then it is also illegal to mow your lawn on a Sunday or wash your car in the street.

You can buy treads that clip on the bottom of your shoes for icy weather, I have never used mine because here is West Wales the extreme weather is less extreme, because we are nicer people who burn less carbon and have more windmills that you do. If you were less nasty to the warmist' God he would be nicer to you in Yorkshire.

Don't leave your beverage in the swimming pool, you will end up with a drink in your ice.

Hello all, In my capacity as one practicing to be a doddery old fogey I went base over apex on the ice some while ago and the Yaktrax I bought very recently are absolutely fantastic and not unduly expensive if one shops around. I tend to walk using my heels and some makes tend not to provide much heel grip. And, no, I'm not on commission in any shape or form! We had perhaps 4" of global warming in north Shropshire and if the weather keeps up it'll all be gone by tomorrow, it's about 8oC and raining steadily. Nope, I ain't disputing that Richard - some steep inclines around Shelf too, back in the day we used to go to a pub out there - called 'The Windmill' - it's probably a goner now though.

Mere Citizens cease to be a liability to the NHS once they are dead enough. Whether the pedestrian is flattened by a lorry, or slips, falls, breaks a leg, and freezes to death, it's all the same to them. Your Betters spend very little time as pedestrians, and when they do they are accompanied by an entourage that will ensure no harm befalls them. Why on earth should they concern themselves about the health and welfare of the Little People?

The temperature here has risen by about 5 deg since a couple of days ago.
This is a huge rate of increase, and clearly shows the effect our CO2 output is having on the planet. I predict that all the animals living in the vicinity will be dead shortly, being unable to withstand such a temperature change.
In other news, the computer model I have just developed from this data shows that, if the rise continues, we will be enduring an atmospheric temperature sufficient to boil water sometime in April, and melt lead by September.
It is essential that you all pay me large sums of money immediately so that I can carry on this essential work and develop new ways of holding conferences to consider ways of addressing this (or the next) problem....
P.S. - my calculations are very precise, and I am able to make the monthly predictions above with very small error bars. However, work is still going on in order to determine the year in which these temperatures will be achieved....
