We all remember December 2008, when the Russian capital was experiencing its "warmest winter ever" and they Ruskies were trucking in snow from Siberia for the FIS World Cup Alpine promotional event.

Now, the scourge of global warming has caught up with them again, as Moscow is buried in record-breaking snowfall, the heaviest that has been seen in November for more than 50 years.

Over 12,000 snow clearing trucks have been called in to take the snow out of the capital, although I guess they won't be dumping it in Siberia. And motorists are complaining about the lack of efforts to clear the snow from the streets. In one section of Moscow's beltway the traffic was paralysed for at least 18 miles on Thursday.

My next door neighbour (aged 80) told me that the climate was definitely changing - getting colder.

Lo and behold, we have fresh snow to low levels on the hills this morning, and summer officially begins next week. (NZ)

Lo and behold, the climate is changing as it has done everyday for 2,500+ billion years.

It gets cold in Moscow and it snows sometimes, the guys in Doha will tell you - it's global warming but most Russkys will tend to disagree.
