When the stage magician wants you to focus on one hand, watch the other one. When politicians tries to focus your attention on one thing, ask what they are trying to hide. So it is with the Merkel visit to London.

There is one clue in the German media. You can find some details in the broadsheets, such as Handelsblaatt, but you have to struggle to find the stories and most media organs have not updated their stories since yesterday – those few that have them. One concludes that the German media isn't really interested – the story isn't important to them.

The Handelsblatt headline, though, is a contradiction in terms. Merkel is going out of her way to create irreconcilable differences – taking the EU places which she knows Cameron can't follow.

All that said, the German Chancellor does not come to London for nothing, even if it's via Brussels. Or perhaps she does – perhaps her real purpose was to deliver a message: as far as Germany is concerned, Brussels comes first. And if that is the case, we should have no difficulty framing a suitable response.

"her real purpose was to deliver a message: as far as Germany is concerned, Brussels comes first"

Er yep, then why not give him [Dave] a bell?

But then.................

Dave, never will he remove himself from his mewling and puking "And then the whining school-boy".

Dave meets Angie - Another minor scene in the great play, "Le grand projet".

It is a good question, as to why Merkel should bother to come to London to deliver ... perhaps that nice Mr Cameron is a little slow in the uptake, and needed to have it rubbed in. Whatever else, a working dinner sandwiched in between a Middle East trip and an appearance on breakfast TV is not a serious discussion. This is theatre, not serious politics.

The Guardian called it a "rare landmark policy speech", in which she voiced Berlin's "absolute determination" to stand by the euro and to strengthen the EU through greater integration of policymaking.

Translation - "We will strengthen the EU by making everyone do what we tell them to..."

Quote:

When you think that through, and consider the diplomatic implications, for her to reaffirm her commitment to greater integration, immediately before a meeting with David Cameron, whose own party is committed to resisting further integration, is a pretty tactless thing to do.

These people live in a bubble. Her advisers probably thought that her visit would give some ammunition to help Cameron fight 'the radical extremists' in his party..

Quote:

For Merkel then to speak in honeyed words of "overcoming differences" simply doesn't stack up, any more than does her proclaiming that she wants a "strong Britain in the European Union". What European Union? What is Frau Merkel talking about, the Union as it is now, or the Union that she is shaping, the one she knows Britain cannot and will not join?

Oh, but we CAN! Our policy-makers have NEVER shown themselves to be fundamentally opposed to getting rid of all of our sovereignty. They have continually said 'We are not surrendering anything' while happily giving away as much as they could.

I would feel much happier if I believed that, at the limit, our Parliament would stand up for its right to be free. But, like society at large, most of them are sheep. And they would happily vote to close themselves down, so long as they were given a position in a Brussels talking-shop at ten times their current salary. I can envisage the way the news would be presented:

Palace of Westminster buildings are too small and unfit for purpose - MPs to be moved to new purpose-built office with closer links to European Parliament. Building will be situated in Brussels to save commuting costs. Of course, the MPs are still 'our' MPs, so we are not losing any sovereignty. They will just be called MEPs in future...

Apparently Downing Street sources are furious over being 'ambushed' with a list of names of alleged Tory paedophiles taken off the internet. Which begs two questions; why are names taken off the internet treated with such seriousness by a supposed national broadcaster and why has Cameron appeared anyway...perhaps if he attempted to be statesmen like as his position demands and not gone on then the situation would never have arisen.

"Oh what a tangled web we weave,

They are getting good at it though, which is the reason that the People do not understand. Thank goodness for the good Doctor, exposing the evil doings of our quisling government. He keeps it almost understandable, not an easy task! Well done Sir.

I did see Merkel wanted all EU members in the euro too at some point in the future, otherwise poor little UK will be all alone in a hostile world...sounds a bit like a threat to meAngry

So it appears Angie is putting her cards on the table for all to see.It s getting harder and harder for Cameron to pretend there is not a serious parting of the ways coming very shortly.

You say:

Do you have any doubt that Cameron has already framed a response which is suitable, at least from THEIR point of view?

Call me Dave - one of the boys (boyz?) - he couldn't say no.

This whole paedophile ring thing is looking messier and messier with inquiry running along side inquiry and inquiries to find out why previous whitewash inquiries were whitewashes and with the suspicion that the new inquiries are intended to be a better form of whitewash; trade exterior masonry paint this time round.

I have an idea that the truth must be very ugly and very embarrassing and that this thing goes a long way.

How do they find each other to form a ring? It's not as if it's something they'd want to broadcast about themselves, so how do they get to know each other in the first place?

"Hi. My name's Jack and I'm a necrophiliac. Got any dust? Just kidding. I'm a paedophile really. Got any kiddies?"

I can't see it going that way. It's a mystery.

Got it!

Ange is here to expand her circle and integrate europhiliacs, paedophiles, necrophiliacs, foot-fetishists and all other sexual deviants into one big happy ring of europerverts.

Could it be that the talks are about the banking union instead?

Not the sort of thing discussed over a working dinner ... that's one for the experts. I still see the actual event as theatre, and keep to the view that Merkel was sending a message. It's the contrast between what she says in Brussels and what she says here that is so interesting.

I hope the Messenger (Angel) from the euSSR feels thoroughly unwelcome.Angry Of course I say so too often, but I don't know how the foul female even dares to set foot in Britain; or why we let her.Angry Unfortunately, I think she's going to get a lot of "Behold the Handmaid of the MightyEU; Be it done unto us According to Thy word."Angry
