Bookers readers will not be surprised to find him writing in todays column on the media response to that warning by Alistair Buchanan, retiring head of the energy regulator Ofgem.

With the closure next month of five major coal-fired power stations that between them contribute nearly a sixth of the UKs average electricity needs, over the next few years, Mr Buchanan feared we will be dangerously close to not having enough power in the grid to keep Britains lights on.
Booker, like so many of us, has been trying to explain this for so long that his readers may be weary of it. It was back in 2006 that he first reported on why, within a decade or so, we might see Britains lights going out.

And there is Geoffrey Lean in the Telegraph blabbering on about how we can export energy..!
Quote:
Better, as the National Grid – not exactly a radical green outfit – has reported, it could, together with an expansion of renewables, re-establish Britain as an energy exporter.

Before it is disappeared...

I made this comment in reply to Servant.

You condescending BASTARD servant!
You think that just because I'm old I need Booker to scare the crap out of me?
Do you believe that just because I'm old I don't understand engineering or economics?
I see the little part of my bill that says...
SUBSIDY!
Do you think that just because I'm old I couldn't see the warnings issued a few years back when the system nearly went into rolling blackouts?
That was before these stations that are going to close.
What happens when we lose those?
I have nothing but contempt for idiots like you and remember, that is the common prefix to your nick!

I think it probably will be disappeared.

Since the "Love Guru" Pauchauri is now on public record admitting the "17 years of no warming" theme, I wonder how these guys will reposition themselves once the lights do actually start going out.

Ties in nicely with this

I hope that the voters of Eastleigh see these two articles and why they should never vote for the Lib/Lab/Con party. But you can bet that they will.

That's right. Reasoning doesn't come into it. There isn't any.

Finally, it's now clear to me it never did.

I remember occasionally reading about periods in history and thinking, "Wow! How could people go along with that nonsense and even support it? I'm glad I live in today's world where things like that couldn't happen."

Ha ha! That was really dumb.

The plain fact is that most people are rote learners — no, they're not even that, they're rote reciters — and they'll pretty much believe ANYTHING.

Baaaaaa! We say.

Fuck.
