Greece: who would've thought it?

I'm shocked - totally shocked, I tell you. Who could possibly have thought that the Greeks would run the crisis right to the wire, and then cave in - rather like they did last time?

But then, thank goodness for the experts who in June 2011 guided us through the crisis, with such gems as: "My best guess is that Greece will default within months, and that the monetary union will limp on – battered and cheapened, but intact".

One is so grateful for these highly-paid experts who can tell us with such confidence what will happen, "when Greece leaves the euro". How fortunate we are to have such people, when us mere amateurs are making basic errors such as predicting that a national economy smaller than the size of Volkswagen might gradually be coming into line.
