EU Referendum: the battle for Wikipedia

11/05/2015

Already the battle has started. On the Wikipedia site here, Tony Sharp posted this anodyne entry:
FLEXCIT roadmap to leaving the EU

As of the end of April 2015, a detailed and thorough roadmap has been written, in conjunction with the Bruges Group. It is called FLEXCIT, and explains how the UK can leave the EU while remaining in the Single Market. The plan is economically neutral and takes care not to undermine the ability of British business to trade with other EEA countries, not harm the interests of investors or impact British jobs.
By the anonymous editor guarding the page, this is regarded as so offensive that it has been instantly removed (several times). This is a harbinger for the battle to come. As with climate change, Wikipedia looks to be on the wrong side, and we are going to have to fight hard to get our voices heard.

The "out" campaign is going to have to establish our own, permanent Wikipedia unit, to monitor, add and edit content. If anyone wants to volunteer, drop me an e-mail.
