Merry Christmas

It's been a funny old year, I wrote at this time last year, just when I was heavily engaged in writing up my submission for the abortive IEA "Brexit" competition.

Here we are a year later, still writing, but on work which has expanded to over 350 pages under the name "Flexcit", with the next edition to be published online early in the New Year. And while "Flexcit" lives, the IEA's sorry efforts have disappeared without trace.

Christmas, though, is supposed to be the season of good will to all men (and even women), so we will not dwell on such matters. Rather, we need to acknowledge the extraordinary generosity and support of EU Referendum readers and allies, who have kept the show on the road, making this a truly exceptional year.

Nevertheless, it is a year that has gone past in a blur – Christmas has suddenly broken into the consciousness, making me wonder where the time went. But, as always, the ever-tolerant Mrs EU Referendum has everything in hand, and all the necessary arrangements have miraculously been completed. And with young Peter joining us, it should be a jolly occasion.

That leaves me to complete what has become the pleasant ritual, the eleventh consecutive time on this blog, of wishing all our readers a very Merry Christmas.

Without our loyal and dedicated readers this blog would not be what it is. The very knowledge that we are writing for an inner core of informed and critical readers makes the difference between sterile dissertation and a live dialogue. The relationship is of as of much value to myself as it is to those for whom I write.

With that, I have no hesitation in conveying a most sincere "thank you" to you all, and look forward to your continued, magnificent support over the coming year. As for the pic (above) – this is from our Emma, the artist. To her and family, a special Merry Christmas.
