Booker: of lunatics and asylums

How horrified we were to learn that the Soviet Union was imprisoning dissidents in mental institutions and drugging them into submission. But now we learn from Booker that this state's enemies are being treated in exactly the same way.

These deadly enemies are the women who have had the temerity to argue with state officials, known as social workers, over the seizure of their children. No greater crime is there than disobeying officials, or seeking to dispute their orders.

Thus does Booker recall how one of these insolent women has been punished. Needless to say, his newspaper doesn't allow mere readers to comment on such an important issue.
