Speaking of corrupt morons (see previous Blog), the commission has decided send former commissioner Edith Cresson to the ECJ, to defend herself against allegations of abuse of office while she served as a commissioner in the late 1990s.

It will ask the court to determine whether Mrs Cresson "failed in her duties as a member of the Commission", citing "favouritism" and "gross negligence", in her activities as a commissioner.

This is the first time that a sitting or former commissioner has been sent before the ECJ, which will determine whether she can keep her pension.  No one is prepared to predict the outcome of this unprecedented action.
