War on Taliban can't be won

So says Britain's most senior military commander in Afghanistan, according to The Sunday Times.

You don't say! We're shocked! Utterly, totally shocked! There again, we could say, we're not at all surprised. After all, that's exactly what we were writing in June.

It's a long and complicated read – but then it's a long and complicated subject. But we did try and sum it up here and had another go at it here.
